shox returns to G2 Esports' lineup

Richard "shox" Papillon will be making his return to G2 Esports' Counter Strike: Global Offensive lineup just in time for the ECS Season 5 Finals.

shox is back in the lineup after taking time off to nurse a wrist injury he had surgery for in March.

Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire have also been benched by the team for the event, according to a news release from G2.

G2's full lineup for the event will be as follows:

  • Richard "shox" Papillon
  • Kenny "kennyS" Schrub
  • Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro
  • Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux
  • Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans (stand-in)
SmithZz of course is the old G2 coach, who has recently returned to competitive play.

This lineup will not necessarily be the official G2 roster going forward after this event. It's still not clear exactly what combination of players will make up G2's permanent five-man squad.

Loda officially retires from pro play; will coach Alliance

Jonathan "Loda" Berg is the newest coach of Alliance's Dota 2 team.

Loda is now officially retired from pro play and will be focusing on his new role as a coach.

Maximilian "Qojqva" Broecker has been added to the teams roster as his replacement.

Clothing company suing FaZe Clan over alleged trademark infringement

A San Fransisco clothing brand called FAZE Apparel is suing esports organization FaZe Clan for alleged trademark infringement because they use the word "Faze" on their apparel.

FAZE filed documents with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

On May 22, the court granted a motion for preliminary injunction in favor of FAZE Apparel stating that FaZe Clan may not sell apparel that displays the word "faze" without having the word "clan" beside it. This injunction will remain until the two parties settle the dispute.

FAZE Apparel was accepted for the trademark of the word "faze" on several different kinds of apparel in June of 2014.

OG's coach announces new roster

Sébastien "7ckngMad" Debs revealed the updated OG Dota roster on Twitter Monday.

The lineup is as follows:

  • Anathan "ana" Pham
  • Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen
  • Sébastien "7ckngMad" Debs
  • Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka
  • Johan "N0tail" Sundstein

Gustav "s4" Magnusson and Tal "Fly" Aizik of course left the team for Evil Geniuses last week.

This new roster will be looking ahead to try to qualify for The International 8.

Dota 2 pro circuit rule changes for 2018-2019

During the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit season hard roster locks will be eliminated and qualifying for The International will be associated with teams instead of individual players.

The way Valve is making this work is by associating qualifying points with teams instead of individual players. Teams will register their five player roster, and then every time a player is removed they will lose 20 per cent of their points at that exact time. This way, teams who maintain their full roster benefit, but roster changes aren't hugely punished.

In accordance with that, only one team will be allowed to compete per organization going forward.
